As a box office lover, I love to make interesting graphs and give a visual on these numbers. I believe that Top Gun: Maverick may be the next billion dollar box office movie.

Other movies like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cannot even compare to Top Gun: Maverick, it is apparent from Figure 1:

Figure 1: Comparison in Domestic Weekend Gross

Although Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness started out strong, with a solid $187 Million box office, it decreased in a big dip on the next weekend.

The percentage decreased a whopping 67% on the 2nd week and continued to decrease 50% on the following weeks. The one exception was Memorial Day, which gave it a bit of increase.

On the contrary, Top Gun: Maverick had a significant growth on the 2nd week of a jaw-dropping 27% increase.

Top Gun: Maverick sits at a comfortable $887,568,000 at the time of writing. However, the movie is just released in South Korea, which is a particularly big supporter of Tom Cruise. The actor himself took a trip to South Korea just to promote the movie. He reportedly conversed with a fan for over 7 minutes and instructed his security guards to step aside in order to take pictures with his fans.

In Tom Cruise’s previous hit movie, Mission Impossible — Fallout, the second largest box office internationally was South Korea, coming behind China. Unsurprisingly, Top Gun: Maverick isn’t allowed in China due to legal restrictions, yet it still is able to rack up more box office money than Mission Impossible — Fallout.
