The United States holds more arable land than any other nation, at 1.65 million square kilometres, or just over 10% of all of the available arable land on earth. It comes in ahead of countries like India, China, Russia and Brazil, with these top 5 producers controlling almost 40% of the world’s arable land.

So hearing that the United States is the largest global exporter of agricultural products won’t come as a surprise to a lot of people. What may surprise you is to learn who takes the number two spot.

With agricultural exports of €94.5 billion in 2019, the Netherlands ranks second only to the US, even though the entire country takes up the space of only 2.5% of America’s arable land space. How has it achieved this? By using the world’s most efficient agricultural technologies.
