I wonder if the author could elaborate on this a bit? It’s pretty clear that the citizens of this country have always fallen short of the high ideals of liberty and justice that were laid out for us to strive for, sure. But I’m not sure where you get the idea that "freedom and justice for some” was actually what the founding fathers had in mind when they set out to create a more perfect union.

Yes, there is great inequality in the system. Yes, we’re still a pretty damn racist country. But to say that this country is actually founded on injustice sounds pretty incredible to me.
