Have you ever been pulled over by a police officer over a tail light and thought to yourself, “I think I have a chance to evade him in a high-speed pursuit if I floor it?” Yea, me neither; but has the thought ever come to your mind on how fast a cop’s vehicle can go? Well, Dubai has the fastest street-legal police vehicle, Bugatti Veyron, and has been certified by Guinness Book of World Record.

Dubai is commonly associated with gold, luxury, and extravagant lifestyle’s which comes to no surprise Dubai’s police has a “super-fleet” that includes a Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari, and Lamborghini, which go hand in hand with the “City of Gold.”

The Bugatti Veyron comes at a staggering $1.6 million-dollars but packs a top speed of 253 mph, 16-cylinder engine, produces 1,000 horsepower and goes from 0 to 60mph in just 2.5 seconds. This is only one car of the luxurious fleet of supercars which include a McLaren MP4–12C, Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, Mercedes SLS AMG, Roush Mustang, Bentley Continental GT, Audi R8 V01 Plus, Aston Martin One-77, Nissan GTR and Mercedes SL36 AMG, and two BMW i8s.

The former country who held the pedestal for the fastest police fleet was Italy’s police force with a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560–4, which has a top speed of 230mph.

Dubai’s police force currently owns 14 supercars, but you may be wondering what is the reason behind these luxurious cars? Are they for high-speed chases? Not necessarily, they were launched in 2013 to promote a better image for the police force, according to CNN.

So, next time you decide to test out your new hot rod and go full “Need-for-Speed,” think twice because most likely the chances of escape are as minimal as you winning the lotto and more likely to being struck by lightning, or getting pulled over by one of these supercars!!
