Dan Pangburn — you should delve deeper; yes, dive through the 96.5% CO2 atmosphere of Venus to the surface where the pressure is 93 bar and the temperature approaches 500 degrees C. Venus is generally considered to be within the inner limit of the “Goldilocks Zone” for our sun — where if it had an atmosphere similar to ours liquid water could exist. Well, the temperature is nearly 5x the boiling point of water. There is no water vapor in Venus’ atmosphere. The bulk of the rest of the atmosphere is nitrogen — not a greenhouse gas. Venus is scorching because of a massive runaway greenhouse effect caused by it’s extremely thick CO2 atmosphere.
