HODINKEE + Watchville join forces

North Technologies’ latest app Watchville has exceeded our expectations. Last month we crossed 1.3 million app sessions, making us the largest watch news site on mobile. This growth is something we’ve decided to focus on exclusively and we found a great partner who shares our vision.

That’s why today we’re thrilled to announce that Watchville is merging with HODINKEE, the world’s leading online wristwatch magazine, featuring news, in-depth reviews, videos, critiques, and reports on watches of a particularly high quality. We are aligned in our quest to create the preeminent resource for modern and vintage wristwatch enthusiasts on mobile and the web. As part of the merger, I’ll be moving to New York where I will join HODINKEE as CEO, while founder Ben Clymer will remain Executive Chairman and Editorial Director.

On the heels of merger, we are also announcing that HODINKEE has raised an additional $3.6 million in funding led by True Ventures. The HODINKEE team also welcomes our new investors John Mayer, Jason Fried, and Kristofer Lofgren. Tony Conrad from True Ventures will join HODINKEE’s board of directors. We will use this funding to expand our editorial team, increasing the frequency of our content, as well as build some exciting new products aimed at reimagining certain aspects of the luxury watch industry.

Personally and professionally this is an exciting opportunity. I’ve gotten to know Ben and the HODINKEE team over the last year, and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish with our combined forces. I’ve always been impressed by the depth and impartial journalism of HODINKEE. Ben and the team have arguably built the most respected and influential watch publication in the world, and it is an honor to be joining them for the next chapter.

NYC here I come!
