I don’t believe in New Years Resolutions
Now thats different than people making a “To-Do” list. That, I can understand and comprehend. What I can’t fathom, or grasp, are the “I’m going to be a better person” in 2000 whatever resolutions. Firstly, I agree that anybody wanting to start on a path towards any type of positivity is great! It’s more of what this world needs in this day and age. No shame in any and all of that!
The point I’m trying to draw out here is that if you weren’t about it (being more generous… or whatever) on December 31st, I’m sorry but I feel you’re not really about it on January 1st. Change takes time and understanding of one’s true inner-self, not a New Year. Am I right? I understand that this is a dead horse that I’m trying to strangle here. I’ve just come to the realization that through societal conditioning, we are led to believe that its numbers and titles that can influence our decisions and our change (New Years, 2014 < 2015 etc). When they really are just another label.
Ain’t nothing new in the regards of a change in year, unless there’s a serious change in YOU! Not just on your outside, the view of you that others perceive and can see via social media posts, but the you that only YOU know. That’s where the change really starts, and where the “New You” really can begin, because remember, who you are doesn’t die on December 31st and become that “New You” on January 1st just from a status update stating that 2016 is going to be a better year for you. It doesn’t happen like that. “Years” aren’t subjective and do not decide your fate and circumstance in life, you do!
