Why No One Knows How Long Video Games Are

“I’m pretty sure book readers and filmgoers don’t principally construe their entertainment experiences as a page-per-dollar or frame-per-dollar affair. But it’s undeniable that gamers do.”

I think that the quoted individual is somewhat incorrect about that statement. I am one of those people who prefers very long games (I find the sensation of having a vast adventure still ahead of me both satisfying and exciting — I don’t particularly enjoy completing games, so I play long ones and usually never finish). I also prefer really long books, and hate it when they end. I watch TV shows over movies for the same reason, and if I do watch a movie in theater I feel cheated if it’s less than two hours long (preferably closer to three).
