Are you in need of high-quality line marking accessories? If yes, then you should add Line marking paint to the list. It is a type of paint specifically designed to mark lines on surfaces such as roads, parking lots, sports fields, and warehouses. It is a highly durable, long-lasting paint formulated to withstand heavy traffic and harsh environmental conditions. So let’s find out about different types of Line marking paints.

Various types of the Line marking accessories

Line marking paint typically contains a combination of pigments, binders, solvents, and other additives. The pigments give the colour its color, while the binders hold the pigment particles together and help the paint adhere to the surface. The solvents help to keep the paint in liquid form until it is applied. Later, it evaporates as the paint dries, leaving a solid, durable line on the surface.

Thermoplastic hot

Hot thermoplastic is the most prevalent kind of paint utilized in the road marking industry. This paint comprises synthetic resin, pigments, and glass beads, with the stains providing colour. And the glass beads contribute to reflectivity. The colour is in powder form and is heated in a tank before being applied using a specialized line marking machine or by hand using a mould. When applied correctly at the appropriate temperature, the paint melts onto the surface and forms a strong, long-lasting bond.

Depending on the traffic volume, this paint can remain visible for 7–10 years. This makes it a highly durable choice. It also boasts several advantages: low cost, quick-drying, exceptional durability, and minimal maintenance requirements.

MMA

Methyl-Methacrylate (MMA) or Cold Plastic is the priciest and most durable type of paint available in the road marking industry. It is similar to hot thermoplastic paint but applied cold and performs better. MMA line marking paint has dual paint components and a catalyst. Make sure you mix well and apply immediately. The paint can also come in a sprayable version for bigger jobs. MMA can last for 8–10 years, depending on traffic conditions. Hence its pros include being long-lasting, drying quickly, and being able to function in low temperatures. And can be used on various surfaces.

Acrylic solvent based

Solvent-Based Acrylic is a single-pack, cold-applied paint. You can apply it with a machine or hand. It is relatively simple to use. Only you need to open the tub, mix the paint, and apply. This paint comes in a low VOC option that is much safer for the environment and the installer. It is preferred in countries where the weather is humid. This paint can last 3–5 years, depending on traffic conditions. It’s easy to use, hard-wearing has low VOCs, and can be used in humid weather.

Water line marking paint

Water-Based Line Marking Paint is environmentally friendly. This paint is less damaging to the environment and has low fume levels. However, it is unsuitable to use in areas with high humidity, especially during winter. This paint is preferred in countries with hot and dry weather. This paint can last 3–5 years, depending on its usage. Overall, it’s easy to use, hard-wearing, environmentally friendlier, and quick-drying in warm climates.

Epoxy paints

Epoxy paints are heavy-duty and resistant to chemicals. It is commonly used indoors in garages, workshops, warehouses, and industrial floors. Epoxy paint comes in a single or two-pack. The two-pack epoxy has a resin and a hardener that need proper mixing before application. Once applied, it forms a mirror-like film resistant to abrasion, fuel, and chemicals. You can use spray, brush, or roller to apply the paint. Depending on traffic conditions, this paint can last for a long time. Of course, it’s long-lasting, abrasive, and has a chemical and fuel-resistant film. And you can conveniently use it on different types of surfaces.

Final talk

So by now, you have the complete list of Line marking paints. But whenever you plan to have any Field Markers or Ground Markers, get them from known brands.
