Thank you. Very illuminating example of how being black in America puts one in an entirely different state of mind: On edge and fearful.
As a white person I never, ever, experience this. Literally the worst thing I experience, racially, on a daily basis amounts to what is essentially self-flagellation about my position at the top of the Privilege Pyramid or defensiveness about being labeled a racist, which I am aware is not at all helpful, but that’s what happens to me. To the privileged, equality can be easily mistaken for oppression. I’m sorry this is the experience you have to have. I’m also saddened by the lack of prominent white voices speaking out against systemic racism.
