Definitely seems to be a bit of a trend recently. Unfortunately for both artists mentioned in the article saying they don’t care is like Pepsi or Coke saying they don’t, it’s not believable. But I didn’t come here to critique their marketing efforts. Another design inspiration for this would be 90s Emigre magazines. They are absolutely stunning, very high quality design work. The recent work on albums seems to be trying to recreate that feel with a modern take. Like if grunge type was in a Mac Ad.
