Miss Kasumi, it sounds like a name of a beautiful Japanese woman, but this place was one of the most beautiful restaurants I visited in Kew.

The new Japanese restaurant on High Street serves probably one the most authentic Japanese lunches you can find here in Melbourne.

WHAT WE ATE…

THE ENTREE

This three-piece entree enriches the course! The refreshing feeling that comes from the ginger in the soba was amazing.

UNAGI DON (Grilled Eel Rice Bowl)

The eel was cooked so perfectly! The fish was so soft and fluffy! The aroma of the sesame on the eel made a great balance with the sweetness of the sauce. I love the sauce and the rice together as well! The hardness and the moisture of the rice were fantastic.

CHICKEN KATSU DON
(Panko crumbed chicken with egg omelet, served with rice)

The chicken’s panko was very crispy on the outside, and the meat was very juicy and soft on the inside. The miso soup’s dashi, also known as the fish broth, had the perfect amount of strength and aroma to it as well.

WHAT WE DRANK…

SOBA CHA TEA and UMESHU (Nakano BC Plum Wine)

WHAT WE WILL TRY NEXT TIME…

HOTATE DON (Finely sliced scallops dressed in ponzu sauce, served with rice)

Miss Kasumi has Set Menus for dinner times as well. These are served by their skilled chef who works with fresh ingredients, which get delivered every single day. If you are in Kew, I highly recommend coming for a lunch! I am sure that dinner will be just as impressive. I cannot wait to come back next time!
