Hey Uber, why do your drivers know where I live and work? (Updated)

Uber did not provide the driver this information? Then where did he get it? Google? Sorry, I smell a rat. As the “driver” Gabriel says — they get that information. It may not be coded as “home” and “work” but hey, it would not take a genius. What other data would they have? I would not take a lot to consider that Uber has a history of every trip you have ever taken with them and had a good idea of the type of car they need to send (sedan vs SUV for luggage) based on that travel history. Uber drivers have been resistant to formal licensing. If you, as a rider, feel you think maybe a little more background checks are needed, or if something like this event is more telling than you might feel safe with, then encourage your local taxi agencies to stop rolling over. Or stop using Uber.
