No, she believes in school choice and the freedom of teachers to innovate. That’s quite different.

However, that said, it’s not that far-out an idea to revamp the entire system, considering it was created to train young people for factory work back during the Industrial Revolution. Other nations do it better.

Every body wants Finnish results, but nobody’s willing to change the system to get there.

Personally, and as an ex-teacher from a teaching family, I think ideas like DeVos brings are long overdue. My concern, however, is that she’s an imperfect messenger; I would rather have seen one of the CEOs from one of the charter school organizations that have been so successful with at-risk children.
