Whom we choose to honor and idolize is a choice we make today, not a choice the people being honored snd idolized made.

Correct. And if you decide to change who you honor and idolize because of their failure to live up to a current standard of behavior when their prior behavior was acceptable in that age, then you’ve done precisely what I’ve said, which was:

Reasonable people do not insist that individuals in the past live up to the standards of the present. To believe otherwise requires the erasure of virtually all of history.

So…..not a straw man, really.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but just stating it doesn’t make for a persuasive argument.

Right back atcha. You gave your opinion on the history without citation, either.
