Here’s How Twitter Can Combat President Trump And His Army Of Trolls
Greg Fish

However, it’s important to remember that social media is simply a new tool for people to voice whatever they want to the world and when someone uses that tool to spew hate and bile, it’s their choice. This is a people problem, not a technological one.

This has been well-known since email was new (yes, I’m that old.)

It was a rather huge problem for corporations in the early days. We found out relatively quickly that the fact that you could communicate with somebody without risk of getting a knuckle sandwich led to emails which, if uttered face to face….WOULD have resulted in a knuckle sandwich.

Another amusing early-email occurrence was when email flirtations with sexual innuendos were accidentally sent to the entire company. :-) This happened more than once at various places where I worked. There was no sense back then that emails were being stored, and could later be read.

Of course, with social media……..posts are INTENDED to be read. I had a chat the other day with another Old Person, and we discussed how social media had shown us how many people that we previously ASSUMED were sane, waiting in line at the grocery, people we work with, even people we church with (well, mosque, for me)….are simply not sane. Their views of the world, previously bottled up, and now being displayed for all to see.

And it’s not pretty. And, unfortunately…..Trump’s world view, his aggressiveness, his combativeness, the way he operates, displayed for all to see, is……..well, not all that unusual, it appears.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
