AFRO: The Girl with the Magical Hair Review

The book is written by Okechukwu Ofili and illustrated by Sharee Miller. It was published in Nigeria in 2015 by Kachifo Limited under Tuuti imprint.

The Queen of Yackiland is obsessed with straight hair found on the head of girls and women in the kingdom of Kanek. She starts a trend of buying hair from the kingdom of Kanek. One day, Kaneks ran out of hair and the King of Kanek banned the sale of hair. Afro was the only one that knew how to grow her own hair. Afro had a cloud of electrifying hair that could cause hairclipse. She liked reading books and wearing her hair in different styles. She meets a prince charming who loved music, books and science.

This book made me laugh, and it’s nice to read an Afro positive girl power book. The illustrations are beautiful and Ankara friendly. I recommend this book for every child and the young at heart.I think every hair saloon in Africa should have a copy.
