Couldn’t have said it better DHH.

The current landscape has many people looking for the wrong thing. Every time I mentioned my app to people on campus, they’d immediately say something along the lines of:

“Then you’ll sell it to Google or something for a billion dollars, right?” Obviously trying to complement and cheer me on.

But it’s troubling how this angel/VC/Banker/Exit pipeline has become the goal instead of building something great and actually creating value(That’s just a pesky pre-requisite).

A lot of people end up looking for funding and finding themselves at a point of no return when they realize that lent money is lent money and they’re indebted.

There needs to be a movement to remind young entrepreneurs of the independent business, one that isn’t in the hands of an outsider before it even launches, and that it can be a viable option.

Its the music industry 20 years ago all over again. People needed labels to give them resources in advance and in turn they give their soul.

The indie revolution will come for tech.

You did just that. A wonderful and very well worded piece that brought this idea home.

Thanks.
