Resin art works

You can use resin craft to make small projects like keychains, jewelry, and decorative art pieces as well as large projects like furniture, art painting, and so on.

Resin is a unique and beautiful craft that is made from mainly epoxy with it having qualities of plastic and glass.

Resin can be mixed with inks and pigment to give different beautiful results.

Types of resin

  • Epoxy resin is a two-part synthetic polymer. It consists of resin and hardener which when mixed appropriately gives a clear, hard, and durable material.

Epoxy resin is suitable for a wide range of applications such as coating, painting, jewelry-making, and more.

This resin is the easiest to work with if you are new to resin craft. Epoxy resin is durable and long-lasting. It can withstand different environmental factors.

Epoxy resin has a longer working time before it starts to cure. It also has a longer shelf life. It can be mixed with pigments of different types to achieve your desired color.

Epoxy resin gives a transparent, glossy, and smooth finish.

  • Polyester resin is superior to epoxy resin and can be used for larger projects such as construction, fiberglass, and more. It gives a clearer finish compared to epoxy resin.
Polyester Resin

Polyester resin is cheaper and easy to find. It has less working time and cures easily.

This resin is hard but breaks easily. It has a stronger odor so needs to be worked within a well-ventilated space.

  • UV Resin is a ready-to-use form of resin that cures within minutes when exposed to a UV lamp.

Uv resin is perfect for speedy results because it is already-made eliminating the need for mixing.

It is perfect for capturing fine details in small resins and jewelry works. It has lower order compare to other resin types.

UV resin can be more expensive than other types of resin and it is not suitable for deep pours because of the limitations in UV light penetration.
