A Fading Rose

P.C. — Abhishek Jakhotiya

Walking down the path

Felt something stirring inside…

Have I been here before ..?

Wondering and wondering awhile…

Doesn’t he remember..?

This is where they first met..!

Here — their park bench…

There- her favorite swing-set…

The wind blows

Like ghosts whooshing past…

That’s when it all unwinds

A train of memories so fast…

Up and down goes the swing

With her on the creaking seat…

The blonde of her swaying hair

carrying her scent so sweet…

And here a cherry tree

With its blossom pink…

Below, her eyes locked into his

Bestowing him admiration with every blink…

Overwhelming emotions

In the first clumsy kiss…

Yearning for the moment to last forever

A moment of perfect bliss…

“Am I gliding past her..

Past her and her memories ..?

Look how she watches me.!

Undisturbed.. by my worries…”

“Am I losing her again..??”, he wonders

But, to keep her alive in him he’ll strive…

She’ll forever be a Fading Rose

In the thorny moments of his life…
