Stratis Full Node Mainnet Beta Release

On March 28, 2018, Stratis announced their Stratis Full Node Mainnet Beta release. The Full Node is a key part of the blockchain ecosystem, and this release represents a significant milestone. Stratis focused on ensuring their software is more functional, stable and performant. You can read Strat’s full announcement over here.

Basically, the “full node” is a rebuild of BTC (from the ground up) in the programming language of native C#. With their full node now released, Stratis established the foundation for their entire modular platform. Icons like smart contracts, sidechains and DApps can now be built on top of Strat’s full node. The full node is an essential release for Stratis, and their other roadmap items are now a giant step closer. So are many other blockchain innovations that will use Strat’s full node as their foundation.

Remember, Stratis aims to compliment Bitcoin, the undisputed king of all cryptocurrency, and Stratis having rebuilt Bitcoin from the ground up in C# opens countless doors by making everything Bitcoin coding has to offer far more accessible for millions of people who are already fluent in C#. I can imagine no greater compliment than that!

Here is an old (but interesting) 2016 article from renowned Bitcoin core programmer, Nicolas Dorier, highlighting a few reasons Strat’s full node release will drive future blockchain developments further faster. Despite Nicolas mentioning in the article that he didn’t have time to work on the full node, everyone who has followed Strat more than a few months knows Nicolas actually ended up formally helping to develop Strat’s full node: https://medium.com/@nicolasdorier/stratis-and-the-bitcoin-full-node-efd03184f57d

Here’s my favorite quote from that article:

“The work of Stratis will improve Bitcoin, and the work on Bitcoin will improve Stratis. This is the kind of work I like doing.” — Nicolas Dorier

Dan Gershony, CTO of Stratis, added the following to this:

Moving over to Discord

On March 29, 2018, Stratis announced they were moving their main forum from Slack to Discord. With messages no longer being retained and difficulty inviting new members, Stratis outgrew Slack with the size of their community. New messages were quickly disappearing from Slack due to space limitations, and Slack was closed to new members for a good while. None of those issues will be a problem anymore at Discord, and Strat’s main forum is now completely open to the public again! You can read the full announcement about this move over here.

I would like to thank two important community members who setup Discord, ‘Acetmesis’ and ‘Pharaoh’. Both are big supporters of the Stratis Platform and do a lot of great things to make Stratis a better place. It’s been a pleasure working with you both on the Discord move (and with many other things every day)!

Strat having such a well-attended forum personally changed a lot for me. I had the pleasure to get to know the official team and many great community members. We built a strong community together. A lot of Strat’s community members have been around for more than a year, and that’s very special in my eyes; even more so because things move so fast in crypto. It has always been one team, one goal and one mission. Community and team, hand in hand. I look forward to strengthening these bonds all the more in Discord.

Here is where you can join Strat’s new Discord forum: https://discord.gg/9tDyfZs

I will be there for all of you! The future looks bright, and 2018 will be great.

Stratis Development Foundation (SDF)

Myco, one of the earliest and most amazing Stratis community members, just launched the Stratis Development Foundation (SDF). This new foundation will provide opportunities for developers to earn bounties. It’s a great place to get started with blockchain development, get in touch with other Stratis blockchain developers and learn more about the development side of Stratis.

As a contributor, you can help the foundation improve the educational material and/or contribute to any of the ongoing projects in exchange for earning bounty rewards.

This is another amazing example of how important the Stratis community is for the success of Stratis.

You can read more about the Stratis Development Foundation at http://stratisdevelopmentfoundation.com.

GLUON

GLUON announced their ICO a few weeks ago, which will be the first ICO to launch from the Stratis ICO platform. This week, GLUON released new information about their project.

That’s it for last week’s news. All the best to everyone!
