Separate Domain and Host provider? This is how to point your domain to the new host server.

Part One:

You simply log into your domain account aka the website/company where you purchased your domain.

Then look for the tab > NAME SERVERS

You may see that they are “locked”. Just click on the option that says Change Settings or Edit or Manage.

You will see something like this:

NS1@domanCompany.com

NS2@domainCompany.com

This is the “server’s web address” your domain currently lives on.

But we want to re-direct these two NS to the new Host server.

Part Two:

You will need the new NS- Name Servers from the separate host site. If you purchased your own, you simply log into that host provider account and go into >C-Panel.

It will be under your general account information on the main page.

NS1@newHost123.com

NS2@newHost123.com

Simply copy and replace Name Server 1 and Name Server 2 onto your domain’s website account.

Click Save. It will confirm your changes.

It will take 24 to 48 hours for your domain to propagate. This is just the time it takes for root name servers and cache records to be updated with your website’s DNS information.

Your domain should show up on the Host site when logged into your C-Panel, under the [add-on domain] Tab for future use.
