reflection 2

The gaming articles were very long but the two that I chose to compare and contrast were from Huhtoma and Galloway. These articles were interesting because in Huhtoma’s he talks about the evolution of gaming, starting from gaming in the 19th and 20th century when people would play slots. He talks about how no one draws a comparison from slot machine games to today’s video games. He talks about how the games that are out now do not have a mechanistic part to them and that they are now all visual. He also compares the how addictive a coin game is versus a new age video game at the time. In the article titled “This is how we play it” they talk about how they studied at two gaming conferences four years about to see if there were similar themes that played out at the conference. Now gaming has become more common in a household setting. The gaming convention was really for a limited amount of people because at the time of the convention these types of conventions were not as big as they are now. Even now I wouldn’t think that gaming conventions would be big since everyone can play from the leisure of their house and their own internet. These two articles really only show similarities in the fact that they are both talking about video games. They talk about the history of video games and how they have changed over time but they don’t really have the same point in different angles. Some similarities in these articles is the fact that they both have different ways of talking about each type of game that they chose to discuss like in their articles.
