The Hwang Family

Happy holidays! We’d like to share a photographic update of our family.

Having traveled to Hilton Head Island almost every spring, we decided to purchase a home there. The climate is tropical in the summer, but very comfortable the rest of the year. We can play our favorite sports all year round and enjoy freshly caught oysters and shrimp. Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina are close by.

The hot tub on the back deck.

This beach is a 10 minute walk from the house. Rocky will enjoy this.

We envision a future where we see clinic patients in the morning, have a nice lunch together, then play golf or tennis in the afternoon.

Sam continues growing the Dermatology Department at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and his research is going well.

One of the true joys of academic life has been the privilege of traveling around the world to visit other medical schools. In October, Sam went to Japan where he gave a plenary talk at Dr. Akira Ozawa’s Psoriasis Research Meeting and lectured to the faculty at Keio University School of Medicine (hosted by Dr. Masa Amagain, shown in photo). Sam was proud that some of his former fellows are now Chairs (Abel Lee, Hidehisa Saeki and, soon, Tomotaka Mabuchi)!

Kathy enjoys taking care of patients at Aurora Health Care without the hassles of office management, although she’s learning it takes much longer to implement change.

Matthew is working at EPIC (the electronic medical records software company) in Madison while waiting to hear back from medical schools. But we aren’t sure if he should enroll, since the practice environment is changing so quickly.

Andrew is finishing senior year at Carleton College before joining Facebook as a full-time designer.

Both boys have found nice female companions,

Matthew and Lori
Andrew and Sarah

and if things get serious, Hilton Head will make a great wedding venue. ☺

Sam’s mother is still enjoying sunny California living near his brother, Paul.

Kathy’s parents move back and forth between Arizona and Philadelphia and enjoyed a family reunion at Thanksgiving.

Cenote diving in Tulum, Mexico

We enjoyed a winter family vacation in Mexico for a week of golf, tennis and cenote diving.

Rocky turned 10 this year, and needed 10 teeth pulled. Luckily, we haven’t lost any teeth this year.

That’s our photo summary of the year. We wish you a warm, wonderful holiday season with loved ones, and best wishes for a healthy and enjoyable 2015.

Love, Sam, Kathy, Matthew and Andrew Hwang
