For this case study, I will be taking you through a Yoga Studio website I designed as a part of an assignment project.

Context

This was an assignment project I did in 2 days.

About problem statement

The existing website falls short of providing an immersive and user-friendly experience for potential and existing clients. The current site given in the problem statement lacks the necessary elements to engage users effectively and convert them into committed yoga practitioners. The website design and functionality do not align with the studio’s mission of promoting wellness and mindfulness. Therefore, the problem at hand is doubled:

  1. The existing website offers a limited and unengaging user experience, which does not resonate with the studio’s values of balance, strength, and holistic well-being.
  2. It fails to address the fundamental needs of users, including clear information about classes, instructors, and an easy way to book a class, thereby missing the opportunity to convert casual visitors into loyal members.

The challenge is to reimagine the entire website and resolve these basic user pain points to create a seamless and inspiring online presence for the studio.

What I understood from my research

I delved into the world of yoga websites and studied human behaviour towards health and fitness. I found that users are drawn to websites that offer

  • Seamless booking process
  • Showcase class offerings clearly and
  • Feature testimonials for social proof

Moreover, I discovered that modern users crave accessibility, simple navigation, and visuals that evoke serenity and motivation.

Keeping the research conclusion in mind, I decided certain -

Goals for redesigning the studio landing page

The primary goals of the redesign were to:

  • Improve User Engagement: Make it easy for users to explore class schedules, instructors and offerings.
  • Increase Conversion: Encourage visitors to take the first step by offering a free class and guide them towards becoming loyal members.
  • Reflect Studio’s Values: Ensure the design resonates with the studio’s values, creating an authentic online presence.

Visual design guidelines

The visual design guidelines emphasized

  • Minimalism, modernism and simplicity
  • A muted colour palette represents calmness and nature
  • High-resolution images of yoga postures, nature, and serene studio spaces were incorporated to visually engage users

The design process I followed

The design process was iterative, beginning with researching and wireframing. Each design element was carefully considered, including the placement of the CTA buttons, the use of calming colour palettes, typefaces that go with the vibe and the incorporation of high-quality imagery representing yoga and serenity.

Let us just straight away get into the Visual Design

Final Design

My learning from the project

  • This project taught me the importance of empathy in design. Understanding the user’s needs and behaviour is fundamental in crafting a user-centric design.
  • Also, to manage all the tasks when you are crunched with duration and have to deliver your best.
