Oliver Stones’ 1983 film Scarface is featured as the Mediterranean-style estate owned by Tony Montana.

The mansion is on the real estate market now and is worth $39,995 million.

The name of the estate is El Fureidis, which means tropical paradise.

The 11,547-square-foot mansion is where Tony Montana met his demise in “Scarface.”

The estate is a seven-bedroom, 6.5-plus bathroom located in Santa Barbara. The mansion is featured as the home and symbol of extreme wealth for Tony Montana in “Scarface” and set in Miami.

Bertram Goodhue built the mansion in the early 1900s.

The Mansions History

Goodhue built the estate for real estate tycoon James Waldron Gillespie.

Gillespie traveled from New York to Montecito, California because of the fair weather climates within the Mediterranean and recreated a tropical landscape.

Goodhue finished building the mansion in 1906 and has been through several renovations and updates to include modern comforts.

Peter Becker restored the estate in 2014.

In 2015, the CEO of IQ Holdings, Pradeep Yohanne Gupta bought the estate for $12.26 million after being listed for $35 million.

“El Fureidis was last snagged in 2015 for just over $12 million — when it was originally listed at the time for $35mm, then dropped to $17.9mm! With a rich pedigree, thoughtful updates, and its prime 10 flat acres in a highly sought-after location — with drop-dead views, the property’s value has soared, offering a symphony of heritage and premium real estate,” Chelsea Werner, a Global Real Estate Advisor at ONE Sotheby’s.

Renowned German author Thomas Mann is among one of the former owners of the mansion. The estate had different celebrities spend time at the mansion, such as John F. Kennedy, Albert Einstein, and Winston Churchill.

The mansion has 10 acres of garden-heavy land while having Mediterranean Revival, Neoclassical, and Middle Eastern Styles.

The estate’s design

The estate features tiled, interior fountains, domed ceilings, and elaborate mosaics.

The mansion has a grand dining room and rooftop lounge with 360-degree views of the Pacific.

The old-world regality can be found in the mansion’s massive dining room which has a ceiling display of a 24-karat gold leaf painting of Alexander the Great conquering Persepolis.
