I am someone who chose to leave US because I wanted more kids. It is a sad fact that 40 days of maternity leave is something that is seen ONLY in US.
India has 6 months fully paid maternity leave.
I used to work for an MNC in New Jersey. They had 1 feeding room in the headquarters. Which also doubled as a “massage” room some days of the week. So those days the mothers just couldn't pump. I repeat 1 in a building of I believe 25 floors. And with a number of women who return to work at 41 days after giving birth. This was a utility company with very limited work from home options.
The struggle of these women, were heart breaking. you couldn't even chose to stop feeding a 40 day old baby. Its too young to wean especially if you like or believe in breastfeeding. Forget 6 months of exclusivity. I could personally just up and leave. What about the others?
Not to mention a regular childcare was 1800$ a month. Heart breaking all over. Its almost like the government didn't want us to have more kids.
American women are much more oppressed in this regard. Many women quit, Many talented hardworking women. It really isn't that difficult.
