OSDS is a browser extension [1] that adds structured data (Microdata, JSON-LD, RDF-Turtle, and RDF-Ntriples) discovery and extraction from HTML documents to existing browsers (currently: Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi, and Firefox).

The latest edition (version 2.6.1) of this product is immediately available from the Chrome [2] and Firefox [3] extension stores.

Product Benefits?

Here are some “deceptively simple” benefits that an OSDS-enhanced browser provides:

[1] Productive Search Engine Optimization — all the major search engines are moving towards modern algorithms based semantically-rich metadata embedded in Web Pages

[2] GPS-like navigation of the Web — in addition to basic link-traversal, new “Query” and “Describe” buttons provide powerful tools for navigating the Web intelligently with lots of serendipitous discoveries along the way (just follow-your-nose by clicking!)

[3] Read-Write operations on the Web — rather than being confined to basic tagging and bookmarking, the new “Annotate” button places you in a browser hosted editor that makes note taking about documents of interest trivial

[4] Local & Cloud Storage — rather than being confined to cloud storage provided by 3rd parties, you can save extracted metadata or new annotations to cloud or local storage .

Key New Features

[1] Nanotation sniffing — ability to sniff out RDF-Turtle (or RDF-Ntriples) statements embedded in the body of HTML docs and/or text pages

[2] Improved Default SPARQL Query — clicking on the “Query” button returns a page enhanced (via Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Entity Extraction) for immediate Linked Data exploration

[3] Sniffed content download — you can download extracted data to local Turtle or JSON-LD documents (which include mounted folders from the likes of Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive etc..).
