World Kidney Day is Coming

For the last nine years, the second Thursday in March has been marked as World Kidney Day. And in 2015, on March 12, we will celebrate the tenth World Kidney Day. Have you thought about what you might do to recognize the day?

World Kidney Day began in 2006 and every year it has a unique theme. This year it is Kidney Healthy for All. In past years World Kidney Day has snuck up on me so that when the day arrives I haven’t thought at all about how to commemorate the day and it slinks by with barely a whisper. So lets talk about World Kidney Day now so when March 12 rolls around you are ready.

To help you get ready for WKD we are doing a
Twitter chat on Tuesday, Feb 24 at 9pm EST.

We will be joined by:

  • Deidra Crews MD FASN. Member of the ASN Work Group on Diversity and Inclusion and Chair of the Chronic Kidney Disease Advisory Group
  • Leslie Spry MD FACP FASN FNKF spokesperson for the National Kidney Foundation
  • Philip K.T. Li will be representing the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and is president of the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis
  • Kamyar Kalantar-Zadeh will also be representing the ISN and is chief of Nephrology at University of California Irvine

We will be discussing the following topics:

Topic Zero What are your most memorable WKD moments?

Topic One The theme for WKD 2015 is Kidney Health for All, what do you think that means? Why is that important?

Topic Two What are the best things you have seen done to honor WKD?

Please join us.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
