Tell us a little about yourself & Flour Patisserie

My name is Kirstie Taylor & put simply, I’m obsessed about cakes! After achieving a degree in Fashion Photography, I decided to develop my baking knowledge at Le Cordon Bleu, London, where I studied Patisserie whilst developing the Flour menu.

Flour is the result of a love for patisserie and many devoted hours in the kitchen, creating the ultimate combination of flavours. Tried, tested and inspired by the best of classic French and British.

Our bakery makes & delivers cupcakes, celebration cakes and miniature bakes right to your door. We’ve also opened our little shop at 90 Central Market in St Helier, Jersey. Here you will find our full selection of bakes as well as speciality hot drinks and refreshments. Come and have a look and we’re sure you’ll agree that they look great and taste even better. We also offer a bespoke ordering service in case you’re looking for something in particular.

1.What’s the sweetest & strangest things a customer has said to you?
 
 A lady and her 3 year old daughter came into the shop not long ago and the lady explained to us that her daughter’s favourite TV programme was The Great British Bake Off. She said that her daughter gets her to bake things all the time and she judges them just like Paul and Mary. Sweet!
 
The strangest thing we were asked was on Valentine’s Day, a customer asked us if she could put our cakes in the microwave!

2.Where’s your family’s favourite place in Jersey & why?

Corbiere because my Grandparents used to go there everyday when they moved to Jersey after the War, they would sit on the bench at the bottom. After my granny died, we sprinkled her ashes there and my grandad and I would go together and sit on the same bench.

3.What’s your favourite Jersey family memory or event?
 My cousin and I used to perform at all the local summer fetes. He would sing and I’d dance behind him. Looking back, it was so funny.

4.Where’s your Jersey place to escape on your own?
I love going to a spa for a bit of ‘me time’. Nothing like escaping from every day life for a recharge!

5.What 3 words sum up Jersey for you?
 I have only one, Sublime!

Final thought…What’s your ultimate cupcake flavour? Chocolate Strawberry Balsamic would be my choice! It’s a chocolate fudge cake sponge, strawberry dark chocolate ganache filling infused with balsamic and a real dark chocolate buttercream topped with a fresh a balsamic glazed, strawberry and dark chocolate shards.
