We like to moan a lot about the terrible British weather. But when it’s good.. it’s GOOD! And there are so many fantastic places to enjoy the glorious British summer!

These are our top 4 favourite splash parks. We love them because they are super family friendly and have delicious restaurants nearby!

Cassiobury Park, Watford

The splash pools at Cassiobury Park got a fantastic facelift last year, and it is looking fabulous! Plenty of shaded areas, clean changing rooms close to the splash pools, an enormous playground & miniature railway.. You can spend a whole day here and you will definitely not get bored. The yummy Daisy’s In The Park based in The Cassiobury Hub will serve you up a delicious lunch, and refreshing ice creams to cool you down.

Verulamium Park, St Albans

The toddler splash park at Verulamium Park is set in 100 acres of beautiful parkland close to the city centre. Open from 10am-6pm from May-September, it features 12 high and low water features inserted into the surface and surrounded by a perimeter fence, to provide a safe and fun activity for children 12 years and under.

Grab lunch at the delicious Inn on The Park, and have a play on the trampolines, mini go karts and have a go at mini golf too! And if that’s not enough you can take a stroll along the lake and spot all the ducks and swans cooling of in the water!

King George Recreation Ground, Bushey

The splash park at King George Recreation Ground also underwent a refurb last year, replacing the outdated paddling pool. Not only has it been modernised, but it also can now cater for nearly 3 times as many people as the older and smaller paddling pool. Open from 11am-6pm, May-Sept.

The park has a lovely play area and small cafe serving delicious middle-eastern inspired dishes.

The Fountains at Granary Square, King’s Cross

I know what you’re thinking, this isn’t in Herts. But it’s so fantastic and easily accessible on the Thameslink that it had to make our list (only 20mins from Borehamwood!)

1,080 choreographed jets shooting out from all over the square in beautiful harmony, each one individually controlled and lit. The kids will LOVE it!

There are plenty of benches and tables if you want to bring your own picnic and if not, you are spoilt for choice with all the restaurants in the trendy Granary Square.

The fountains are on during daylight hours (that makes for a lot of splashing!) and open daily, throughout the year.

Happy Splashing!! 💦
