Two-Faced
There’s two ways a person can interpret this image.
This right here is a frozen snack called a ‘Smiley,’ the only thing is, it got burnt while frying. “Look at this poor thing.” You’re probably saying that in your head right about now, am I right? Do you know what I’m thinking though? “What a champion.”
Are you confused? Possibly even thinking I’m crazy? Or maybe you agree with me and think that calling it a poor thing is the insane take. Some people will think of it as an object that smiles to hide all the pain and misery bottled-up inside of it, which can erupt at any moment. A mask to conceal the melancholy eddying inside it, an active volcano of anguish, or perhaps a delicate Jenga tower that’s missing more than a few pieces, ready to tumble over.
People who think like that are called pessimistic. These are people who look at the glass half empty.
But the strong people, the determined ones, they are probably commending this little Smiley for smiling through all the pain it’s enduring, commending it for the fact that it’s continuing to move forward, even if it has to crawl. This Smiley won’t give up, it’s optimistic, just like the people who’s thought process goes something along the lines of what I just described. These people look at the glass half full. That’s my take on it at least.
Or maybe I’m just crazy, after all I’m talking about a burnt Smiley like it is capable of having these feelings.
