Overview:

For this second project we worked as a team in the design process of a music player app called Rewind.

Our principal task was to develop two art directions for the same wireframes.

In my case, it was decided that i would be working in a vintage feel from the 80’s and 90’s, taking inspiration from cassetess and old music players.

Brief:

  • Rewind is a music streaming app
  • What makes it different?
  • Gifting Component
  • More throwback music, past eras

Target Audience:

  • Age 20–25
  • Female
  • Student
  • Outgoing, likes to laugh, passionate, loves music, social, creative, stylish

Design Process:

For the design process, an inception worksheet was created and worked with. On it, it shows all the ideas that wanted to be represented in the final page.

Inception Sheet.

Why? The nostalgia of listening to physical tapes and having just a limited number of songs.

Why? It becomes more personal, you have a limit of songs.

MOOD: Vintage, Unisex but more focused on the girls side.

COLORS: Warm (red, tellow, violet, etc)

SPACE: Space between boxes and windows.

SHAPE: Rounded corners.

MOVEMENT: Pop-ups and slide images.

Moodboard:

We had a lot of inspiration from cassettes and from the ‘rainbow’ feel. It was something kind of trendy back in the day and we incorporated it in our app.

Style Tile:

We went for more warm colors as our app was directed towards women.

Style Guide:

High Fidelity Wireframes:

About the presentation:

  • Thoughtful
  • moodboard needs more curation
  • good execution
  • more contrast
  • button needs more highligth
  • more design heriarchy
  • Good selection of colors
  • cohesive
  • slide deck was well design
  • more testing
  • good use of “we” and “i”
  • good speed
  • confident
  • passionate

Conclusion:

I had a lot of fun working on this project. The art directions that we took were satisfying and we think we improve a lot after our P1’s. We learned how to make an style guide, something that i think would be really necessary to keep everyone on the same page on P3’s
