Non-ownership is already happening. I can’t tell you how many Millennial friends I have that not only don’t own a car, but get very uncomfortable when I suggest they should still get a driver’s license.

No one has forced them beyond the cost and the space — they don’t make as much as their parents and cars are expensive to buy and to maintain, plus many live in urban environments with very limited parking space.

These are the forcing functions that are already at work. The new generation(s) are welcoming shared transport with open arms.
