How a TV Sitcom Triggered the Downfall of Western Civilization
David Hopkins

My problem with Ross was never that he was an intellectual. The problem with Ross was that he was a whiny, entitled twat who constantly needed to shit on other people’s happiness and passive-aggressively gloat about how much smarter he felt he was than his friends, regularly bringing down those around him by morosely fishing for validation and sympathy at every turn while simultaneously judging and mocking those who had similar misfortunes fall on themselves. His gross calculation of every interaction with women — largely Rachel — to attempt to manipulate them into affection was also a pretty huge turn-off.

Ross was not the beginning of the end of Western Civilization. Ross was the beginning of an uprising of self-titled Intellectual Men who bemoaned not being able to get a girlfriend while simultaneously viewing women as conquerable objects.
