Dear settled people: we need to talk.

It’s horrible how travellers are treated in this country. I come from a town with a sizeable traveller population, every single pub in the town has a blanket ban on travellers. I once witnessed two young traveller girls (Maybe 14 or 15) trying to bring their little brother in for a haircut, only to be told that it was appointment only and there were no appointments left that day (Did not stop them telling the non traveller who walked in 2 min later to take a seat of course).

We (Irish, non-travellers) don’t seem to realise that attitudes like this only make the problem worse. We completely alienate a part of the population, and whenever anyone acts up in response it’s used as justification for the alienation.
