NBA Stars Team Up with FUTAKU Studios and Heritage Auctions to Present “Stronger Together” Signed Basketball

Charlie Villanueva and Jordan Walsh join forces with FUTAKU Studios and Dora ‘Byzeneth’ Reynosa to create a one-of-a-kind basketball piece that celebrates the solidarity and strength of the Alopecia community to be auctioned to support the Alopecia Community.

In November 2022, Charlie Villanueva and FUTAKU Studios Director Mike Fukunaga announced the production of The Alopecians, an animated series centered around Alopecia and its supernatural ability to bestow superpowers upon its hosts. The series provides a message of hope that empowers people with Alopecia. After debuting The Alopecians animated teaser, Charlie Villanueva launched Alopecia.Community, a nonprofit organization founded by Rob Villanueva, Charlie’s older brother and CEO, that provides support, resources, and advocacy for people with Alopecia and their families.an online platform that connects people with Alopecia from all over the world. Alopecia.Communtiy hosts forums with celebrity guests, Q&As, and serves as a helpful resource that educates its users about Alopecia.

To further their cause, they have partnered with Heritage Auctions to launch a charity auction for Alopecia awareness in January 2024. The auction will feature a one-of-a-kind basketball piece called “Stronger Together”, created by local artist Dora Reynosa. The piece depicts the bond between Villanueva and Walsh, who have supported each other throughout their careers, and who are both passionate about basketball and the Alopecia community. The piece also represents the solidarity and strength of the Alopecia community, and their determination to make a positive difference in the world.

The hand-painted ball, valued upwards of $2,000, and is expected to fetch far more for the charity, features Charlie Villanueva and Jordan Walsh reimagined as superheroes inspired by Charlie Villanueva’s animated series, The Alopecians. Villanueva and Walsh partnered with Dallas-based FUTAKU Studios and Dora ‘Byzeneth’ Reynosa to create the artwork and paint the one-of-one basketball. Every dollar from this sale will be donated to support The Alopecians and Charlie Villanueva’s online platform, Alopecia.Community.

Surrounding events planned include the premiere of a short-form documentary that showcases the story behind the piece and the impact of The Alopecians, the animated series created by Villanueva and FUTAKU Studios, on the lives of many people with Alopecia.
