When creativity brings its own challenges

I was in the middle of writing an article when the movie that was playing on Netflix sparked a brilliant idea. I stopped to start that one. I was really getting in the flow with the second one when my daughter did something really cool. I needed to get that down as quickly as possible before I forgot.

I remembered the first article, the second one, and realized I have 247 half-written articles in my drafts. …


Not knowing your calling may be a distraction

I have a calling and several distractions. Fear is the biggest of them all. Doubt is also one of them. The doubt that I can't be who I’m called to be. Fear allows doubt to whisper in my ears, “Forget this calling of yours and get your head out of the clouds.” It tells me to forget my calling and get a stable job instead. But “getting a job” is also another distraction to my calling.

I've gone through life with a clear sense, sometimes nagging feeling that I’m not living up to my full potential. An understanding that there’s more to life than just getting a job, getting married, having kids, and saving enough money for a comfortable retirement. …

Earlier today I went to HomeGoods to buy new cookware. Have you purchased cookware lately? There are thousands to choose from. One lady told me cooking in certain cookware makes you sick because they contain little traces of toxic chemicals. Oh?

I have a little daughter, so I care about such things. As I was in the store, I just wasn't sure which one was the safest. I had questions but I was by myself.

I went on Google to find answers as always. I ended up having a discussion with myself to figure out which was the best to buy. …
