I’m so sad that you get so little validation! I think it’s great that you are developing this kind of insight into yourself though, so you can stand up for what you need and articulate that.

Tangentially, I think our whole culture is set up to invalidate people in so many ways, every day. Just tell anyone that your dream is to do something artistic or daring or just different and the reaction is always negative. Or tell people that you are sad, depressed, etc. and people will flat out say “no you’re not!” Like, what? No, that’s not how it works.

It’s easy to say “trust yourself” when everyone is telling you that you are wrong, but it’s harder to practice. I hope you can hold on to that part of yourself that knows what is true for you. ❤
