I am under the impression that Bernie actually does get a whole lot done in congress — he just doesn’t do it the way you are expecting — that’s why it’s effective. I hear his colleagues call him “the amendment king” because the way he gets things passed is by adding his ideas to other bills as amendments. What this shows is cleverness, and a lack of ego — he’s going for the effect of the legislation rather than the credit for having gotten it done. The problem is that since he hasn’t gotten credit for it, people like you, even though you support him, think he hasn’t gotten stuff passed. He’s even better than you think.
