In our family, we’ve shifted the focus to local politics. We take our 8-year-old to City Council meetings when we give public comment. We go to meet-and-greets for local candidates who talk about their plans to improve the community.
We watch the debates, too, but in the same way we watch any TV — as entertainment. Then we talk the issues.
My hope is that he’ll remember this election as the one where the most meaningful candidates discussed affordable housing and bike infrastructure, not pussy grabbing.
