We’re afraid that we’re gonna screw it up, so instead, we choose to substitute it with something simpler; something that we can’t screw up, like reorganizing our Evernote or getting the car detailed. We appease ourselves by saying things like, “at least I’m not doing nothing,” trying to convince ourselves that we’re still doing something productive. But we’re not — there’s nothing productive about this kind of substitution.
