Even before this season, didn’t everyone (serious about basketball) know Bill Russell won MVP in 1962? It’s one of the richest storyline years in NBA history: Oscar with the triple double, Wilt with 100, Wilt with 50 points per game, Russell wins MVP anyway, the 1962 Finals sees one of the three greatest comebacks in NBA history, the Lakers steal game five in Boston behind 61 from Baylor, Selvy chokes at the buzzer in game seven, Russell defends his 1961 MVP and title with 30 points and 40 rebounds to clinch the Finals… I mean, if that’s not an unforgettable season for Bill I think your criteria are a little strict.
