“She describes how most of us use the terms shame and guilt interchangeably” — I had trouble getting passed that assertion. Did you mean literally the terms “shame” and “guilt” in speech, or that our internal self-critical dialogue confuses the two, making us feel shame when we should feel guilt? The latter makes sense, but I’ve never heard anyone say they were ashamed when they meant guilty, vice-versa, or have I ever conflated the two.
