Baseball and Beers

They say there’s nothing like a night at the ballpark. This past Thursday I had the pleasure of attending my first Tacoma Rainiers game at Cheney Stadium. The game was made a PLU event as part of a group of business majors’ Capstone project. All Lutes in attendance received discounted tickets, a Tacoma Rainiers hat, as well as $2.00 beers.

My love of baseball combined with my love of beer made it a no brainer decision to attend the game. I carpooled with some friends and we arrived at the stadium about a half hour before the first pitch. To my surprise, the entire ballpark staff was dressed in Star Wars attire! They definitely made the game a bit more interesting in between innings with their rehearsed battle scenes and constant Star Wars soundtrack blaring from the speakers.

We settled into the beer garden section of the ballpark and met up with a lot of fellow Lutes. I almost didn’t go, the clouds were looking pretty gnarly before we left. However, I’m so glad I did! The game was a blast! I got to hang out with friends, drink some beers, at watch some baseball. Granted, the quality of baseball itself wasn’t that great. There were quite a few errors and not a whole lot of hits. To me, it doesn’t matter how exciting the game is. What truly matters is that you get to make qualities memories with your friends and have a good time.

If anyone is in the Tacoma area any time soon, I highly suggest hitting up a Rainiers game. You won’t regret it!
