This Bible Study is taken from Chapter one of “Working The Works of God” By Andrew M. Nkoyoyo

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood… (1 Peter 2:9)

YOU ARE NOW ON THE ROAD to a spiritual breakthrough in your life that will far surpass the limits of any expectations you have ever had. I promise that as you receive these truths into your spirit, your life will be transformed. You will have a new anointing of God’s power! I am not talking about momentarily basking in God’s presence for just an hour or two. I am talking about a new dimension that will make you a thousand times more effective. You will march in God’s unlimited power to liberate men and women everywhere from the bondage and torments of the devil.

These are the works of God. What we need is a new spiritual breakthrough in order to touch the world with God’s saving love and power. But before we go further, I would like to tell you that you are what God says you are.

Your Identity In Christ

God says that you are special, a chosen generation, a priest, and very peculiar in His eyes.

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9)

Many dear Christians are very dedicated, faithful and desiring to be all that God has created them to be. Yet, many of these Christians do not know how much God loves them. The enemy has convinced them that their past shortcomings are able to rob them of God’s blessings.

I want you to know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Architect of Ages. In all the history of creation God has never made anything like you. You are special and very unique with an exclusive assignment and ministry.

You have distinctive and exceptional abilities and gifts. You are not only the apple of God’s eye (Zechariah 2:8), but you matter a great deal to His eternal plans and purposes. This is your time to discover who you are in Christ and recover your birthright.

I said, ‘You are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High.’ But you will die like mere men; you will fall like every other ruler. (Psalms 82:6–7, NIV)

God knew each one of us before the foundation of the earth. He actually knew us before He made us. Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying:

‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sancti ed you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations’. (Jeremiah 1:4–5)

Despite all of your shortcomings, God is madly in love with you. You are not a biological accident. You are a person of destiny. God had you in His heart before you were in your mother’s womb. He created you for a purpose, and that purpose is to worship Him. Before you gave your life to Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, Satan tried all that he could to stop you from seeing the light of God shining through His Son, Jesus Christ. Now that you are a Christian, he is fighting constantly to stop you from knowing who you are in Christ. He is trying to hinder you from receiving what rightfully belongs to you through the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

The day you stepped into the Kingdom of God, you walked into the unlimited power of the Pentecostal experience. The anointing of God, spiritual gifts and ministry became available to you. Now, it is your responsibility to discover God’s plan and call for your life and to pursue it.

God’s call comes with the vision. The vision comes with the message. The message comes with the anointing, which enables you to exhibit the works of God. The anointing also brings God’s provision to perform and full that particular assignment from God.

We are made in the image of God. When we receive our regenerated birth through salvation, we become “gods,” the children of our Creator — Father God. It is when we receive the characteristics of our Father that we are then in a position to receive the power that is inherent in our Father. Just as we inherit physical genes from our earthly parents, we get our spiritual “genes” from our spiritual Father, God. Because we are related to God by our spirit, we have the authority to be like Him.

In the Old Testament, God said to Moses that he was to be as God to Pharaoh.

So the LORD said to Moses: ‘See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh, and Aaron thy brother shall be your prophet. (Exodus 7:1)

Also, in the New Testament, Jesus answered the Jews:

Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods.”’? (John 10:34)

The power of God, His gifts and His abilities are in your life, right now. If God says that you are as God to Pharaoh or Egypt, which is symbolic of the world, then you are as God to the whole world, and it is expected to listen and obey you. God creates, and so can you. God says that you can create blessings or curses, life or death, healing or infirmities, prosperity or poverty according to the power of the Holy Spirit in you.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20–21, emphasis mine)

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21)
