Great article! I’ve watched how social media is evolving — it reminds me of the Chaos that ensues when everyone wants the same thing, but then they get it. There is this period of being “satisfied” until they want the “next” thing. It’s a fascinating part of the human condition.

That’s where the idea of scarcity really comes in here strong. Yes, it may appear that we can be friends with robots and “things”, but connecting to them has simply been something that has been ignored since we started distracting ourselves with technology. Ask your grandparents who use to enjoy a walk outside, or a trip to the mountains. Connection with “things” has always been there, but we just had to be a bit more quiet and thoughtful to experience it.

Now we are creating a way of thinking for these objects that reflects our needs rather than the needs of the object.
