Social Connectivity to Social Customization

I just finished reading a great article about the overserved and underserved customer. I had a great thought about the future of social media : customization.
So how do we customize our social experience? How do we “have it our way” and increase the quality of our experiences online with other users in our “networks” on all the social platforms?
Well certainly, when you think about the depth of social interaction, majority of the time there are some “depth” issues. We often are interacting with a “perception” than a “person”. We see and interpret based on the content they share, create, and interact with.
But if you stripped all that away, and actually spoke with that person — would all of those elements be a part of the “real experience” of being their friend? I’ve had many experiences that prove that there is a dissconnect.
Ultimately there is one thing that will most certainly make you interested in a person — where they draw the line. That’s it. Their standard. Their rules. Their limits. THAT is what makes the connection great in real life.
Whether its politics, music, business, relationships, obsessions, books, interests, ANYTHING — once you learn someones rules, they suddenly reveal one of the most important parts of human connection — TRUST.
I don’t know you, until I know your rules. I can’t trust you until I know your rules. Then let’s see how this all plays out.
So the next step isn’t making friends with Robots — it’s making friends with the REAL you.
Malo.
