Indian food includes a variety of dishes, with unique flavor profiles and ingredients. However, one common denominator in many of these dishes is rice. Rice is a common ingredient across Asian dishes, with it being the most widely consumed staple food in the human population. 714.5 million tonnes of rice were grown in 2014, which is the third-highest production of an agricultural commodity worldwide, only below sugarcane and maize.
