The science fiction film "1984" by Finnish director Diana Ringo, is the third feature film adaptation of George Orwell’s famous novel.

The film was first released on Amazon Prime on November 15, 2023. It has been described as a bold cinematic reinvention of "1984" with elements of dark humor and striking visuals.

The plot of the film is set in the future, where control and suppression of individuality are an everyday reality. Fantasy is deemed to be a fatal illness and Big Brother remains the only elected leader of the United State.

The main character, a mathematician, secretly keeps a diary in the world where freedom and imagination are prohibited. He faces a difficult choice: remain an obedient citizen of the United State or join the resistance.

The film features numerous references to the novel “We” by Evgeniy Zamyatin, which was the original template for Orwell’s novel. Obmanov’s excellent performance adds additional layers to the character, while the picture is increasingly relevant as it unveils profound aspects of contemporary issues about totalitarianism and the indefatigable pursuit of freedom.

The cast includes Alexander Obmanov, Diana Ringo, Alexey Sharanin, Vladimir Ivaniy, Sergey Khrustalev, Vladislav Kuvitsyn and others.
